John's work history includes: General Electric from 1980 – 1991 as Cost Analyst, Corporate Auditor, Senior Financial Analyst, and Manager with Financial Planning and Analysis and Finance and Office Operations. He then worked with Manheim Auctions from 1991 – 1994 as Controller and Assistant General Manager and then again from 1996 - 1999 as General Manager. From 1994 – 1996, John was the General Manager for The Greater Group of Auctions. In 1999 John started serving as the Vice President and General Manager for First Choice Auto Auctions, then in 2002 he became the CEO and Managing Partner where he still is today. As of 2012 he became an Adjunct Professor in Management for Southeastern Louisiana University.

John received his BSBA in Finance from the University of Alabama at Huntsville, his MBA from Freeman School of Business, Tulane University and his PhD in Organization and Management from Capella University. His Professional Activities include: Louisiana Used Motor Vehicle Commission, Past President, National Auto Auction Southern Chapter, Past President, Texas Wholesale Auto Auction Association, President, Options (A non-profit engaged in helping people with disabilities).

John has been married to Georgianne Poteet for 33 years and they have two sons. John enjoys golf, reading, traveling to new places and is an avid fan of the Southeastern Louisiana University Lions, Houston Astros and New Orleans Saints.
